Chris McDonough brings over 25 years of award-winning interior design experience to MCA, where the success of his global hospitality and residential projects translates into beautiful spaces and a strong return on investment. His project leadership and collaborative style are evidenced in his portfolio of pioneering work, which consistently demonstrates his talent for creating spaces that drive memorable experiences.
Chris recently joined MCA following design positions with leading Chicago architecture and interior design firms. He has served on, and led, design teams on projects for leading worldwide brands and their boutiques, restaurants, bars, spas, multiunit residential developments, and serviced apartments. Whether global or local in scale, Chris brings his passion for innovative design to every project.
Chris’ earlier work garnered extensive media recognition for its inventive design and impact on some of Chicago’s architecturally significant structures. His influence on transforming The Renaissance Chicago Downtown’s conference center to leverage views of the Chicago River and fuse functionality with socially-conducive space was featured in USA Today and Hospitality Design Magazine. His design vision and collaborative direction on the renovation of Chicago’s Godfrey Hotel was featured in a Lodging Magazine Cover story, as well as in Chicago’s Splash magazine.
Chris received his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Architecture degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. A licensed architect, he is a member of the American Institute of Architects, professionally registered in multiple states (including Illinois) and is a LEED Accredited Professional.
Chris enjoys creating design and LEGO projects with his daughters and can be regularly found competing in triathlons. He is always up for trying the spiciest foods and the smoothest Irish Whiskeys.
