AMENITIES F PHOTO: MARY COOK ASSOCIATES ANGULAR GEOMETRY CREATES HIGH DRAMA IN THIS GATEWAY THE PARAGON | CHICAGO, ILL. or the Paragon, a 500-unit de luxe rental tower in Chicago’s South Loop, commercial interior design firm Mary Cook Associates drew upon the building’s angular archi-tecture to create a showpiece lobby that instantly sets a tone of style and elegance for residents and guests alike. The high-drama space, which exemplifies the midcentury-meets-Manhattan aesthetic curated throughout the building, features a wall of deep ma-hogany with mirrored cutouts reminiscent of the an-gular glass on the tower’s façade. For the lobby’s flooring, a large-format porcelain tile was custom cut and inlaid with brass strips to mimic the structure’s architectural vocabulary. Solomon Cordwell Buenz (architect) and Walsh Construction (GC) completed the Paragon for devel-opers Murphy Development Group and CIM. In the Paragon’s lobby, interior designer Mary Cook Associates paired luxe leather furniture against a backdrop of deep, rich colors, highlighted with accessories and lighting fi xtures in a range of metallics. The designer also did the mail/package room and four model apartments. A EARTHY, ORGANIC MATERIALS, COLORS, SHAPES GALORE!
